Elmhurst Energy Systems are pleased to announce that, following extensive testing by BRE, our Design SAP2009 Software has received Government approval and has now been released to our customers.

Elmhurst‘s Design SAP2009 Software produces building energy calculations and can be used to demonstrate compliance with the New Part L1 of the Building Regulations in England & Wales, and Section 6 of the Scottish Buildings Standards in Scotland. These latest changes to the Regulations came into effect on the 1st October 2010.

This achievement is the latest evolution of Elmhurst’s established and widely used SAP Software which is popular throughout the industry with consultants, house builders and Building Control Bodies. The Design SAP2009 software will be further enhanced between now and April 2011 and phased updates will introduce additional features to the software including an updated U-Value calculator and the ability to lodge new-build EPCs.

New Build Dwellings - what are the requirements?
When constructing a new dwelling, energy calculations are required in order to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations. The Government now utilise these calculations to fulfil EU requirements for the provision of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC). EPCs demonstrate the energy efficiency of a dwelling at the completion of construction.

The Building Regulations, Part L in Eng & Wales and Part F in Northern Ireland, aim to ensure minimum standards are adhered to wherever buildings are constructed. The prescribed method for demonstrating that minimum standards have been achieved with regards to the energy efficiency requirements is the submission of Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations.
