New Build Dwellings - Training
Overview
Elmhurst Energy Systems is a Government approved Accreditation body and offer the training and Accreditation license to practise as a SAP Energy Assessor (OCDEA) allowing the individual to produce EPCs and undertake building regulations compliance calculations for New Build Dwellings.
We currently offer two training courses in conjunction with the Design SAP software to become a SAP Energy Assessor (OCDEA). Your individual requirements will determine which course is suitable for you.

1. APEL On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) Training
For all experienced professionals who require the ability to produce EPCs for new build dwellings on construction. Elmhurst provide a comprehensive and detailed 3 day training course which when successfully completed entitles the candidate to apply for Accreditation as a Government Approved SAP Assessor (OCDEA). The course covers the SAP methodology, use of the Design SAP software, relevant parts of the Building Regulations, and EPCs.
Please note: The Elmhurst OCDEA training course is an Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) route. The APEL route is not suitable to all, and for those without the necessary experience in Building Regulations or energy performance of buildings, a 'New Entrant On-Construction Qualification' must be undertaken. Elmhurst are currently developing a course for the 'new entrant' qualification.
2. Design Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) 2005 & Building Regulations Awareness Training
For anyone who requires an understanding of SAP calculations, the Building Rexap07_dsgn_apel_newly_constructed_dwellings_application_14.05.09.version006.pdfegulations and how to use the Elmhurst Design SAP software, but does NOT require EPC production, such as, Build Control Bodies/Building Designers - Elmhurst provides this convenient 1 day course.

Elmhurst Design SAP training is an intensive 3 day classroom based training course which covers all aspects of the application of SAP2005 to New Build Dwelling design and On Construction EPC production. This course is a mandatory requirement in order to join the Elmhurst Accreditation Scheme for New Build Dwellings and practise as a SAP Energy Assessor (OCDEA).

Following the Course
Individuals will be expected to successfully complete five SAP2005 calculations and submit them for assessment, before proceeding to the Accreditation stage thus being licensed to produce EPCs on construction.
Please note: When this course is delivered in Northern Ireland the programme is based around the relevant NI Building Regulations although candidates can choose to attend any course they wish.
Course Fees
On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) Training - Course Fees Exclude VAT
Course fees range from £349.00 to £1,199.00 depending on your experience. Course fees include:
- Three classroom training days (at Elmhurst head office, Lutterworth, just off J21 of the M1)
- Lunch and refreshments on each day
- Comprehensive training manuals
- Accrediitation and 1st years membership on the scheme is also included.
2. Design Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) 2005 & Building Regulations Awareness Training

Building Regulations aim to ensure minimum standards are adhered to wherever buildings are constructed. The prescribed methods for demonstrating that minimum standards have been achieved with regards to the energy efficiency requirements is the submission of SAP calculations.
For persons who wish to train in the current Building Regulations and use the Design SAP software, Elmhurst currently provide this 1 day course. This course takes persons through all they need to know for using SAP2005 to show Compliance with Part L1 (Eng & Wales, Part F (NI) and Section 6 (Scot) 2005 of the Building Regulations and use of the Elmhurst software.
These training days are ideal for Building Professionals i.e. Building Control Officers, Architects, Builders etc... who need to show compliance with the Building Regulations and require SAP knowledge, but do NOT require Accreditation to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).

The Design SAP 2005 & Building Regulations Awareness Training does not require Accreditation, by completing the training application form you will have successfully completed the necessary steps to booking a place on our training course.
