Developing A Strategy For Recovery

Since the abolition of HIPs, we have seen a real change in the market place over the last month with EPC lodgements down in May. However, various media sources have indicated that the housing market has increased by 20% throughout June but this (as per the EPC Register) has not been reflected in EPC lodgements.

This may be due to a number of factors;

  • The 28 day rule
  • Non-compliance
  • Problems with HIP based processes/systems needing amendment to produce EPCs only

I have recently sent a letter to Grant Shapps, Housing Minister setting out our concerns over the low levels of lodgements and concerns surrounding the policing of accreditation schemes. We await his response.

In the mean time I would like to hear your views and opinions on what is happening in your area. This will hopefully help us form a strategy on how to best help our industry. Please send e-mails to dea-support@elmhurstenergy.co.uk with the subject heading ‘State of the Market’.

Many thanks
