Overview
Streamline EPC Software TrainingFlexible training packages are available to meet our customers’ needs. Training requirements can be discussed on initial contact and a plan can be formulated for successful implementation of the Streamline EPC System. Our training comprises the options below, training options can be tailored to suit individual customer requirements:
- New Streamline EPC Software training (on initial set up)
- RdSAP training (to produce EPRs)
- DEA training for those who wish to produce Government endorsed EPCs.
Please note: General use of the system and production of un-lodged energy assessments (EPRs) can be undertaken by any system user, but only an Accredited DEA may produce an EPC.
Training Course Details
New Streamline EPC software and system administration training
(Highly recommended for data managers)
Course Details:
This half day course is aimed at Data Managers and general system users of the new Streamline EPC software. It will explain how:
- To manage the software and the database
- To instruct EPCs or enter EPRs
- To import existing data
- To run the reporting functionality.
We will also provide a quick overview of the RdSAP methodology.
Location
The half day course can be held at your place of work and will include transfer of all existing data (including EPCs lodged through Elmhurst Energy Systems), plus the initial set-up of users.
Course Fees
Price on application depending on numbers attending and the complexity of handling existing data. Reasonable travel expenses will also be taken into account for on-site visits.
RdSAP Training
(Highly recommended for system users who wish to produce EPRs)

Course Details
This one day course is aimed at personnel who wish to understand the Streamline EPC Software. This course covers the history, scope and data collection requirements of RdSAP
The knowledge gained on this course will allow attendees to visit properties and collect the correct data and successfully use the new Streamline EPC Software to produce EPRs.
Location
The course can be held at your place of work or at Elmhurst’s Lutterworth training facility.
Course Fees
The cost is £250 exc VAT per person, subject to a minimum £1500 exc VAT. Reasonable travel expenses will be charged for an on-site visit
RSLs may then wish to either use external licenced Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) to produce EPCs for their stock or may wish to train their own staff; or indeed use a mixture of the two.
Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) Training
(Mandatory for those wishing to produce EPCs)
There are two training routes to achieve DEA Accreditation both of which will enable persons to be licensed to produce EPCs:
- New entrant qualification
- Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) for existing practitioners

Course Details
Elmhurst offers a DEA Diploma in association with NFOPP (National Federation of Property Professionals). This course consists of three classroom based days and distance learning modules, leading to two multi choice exams and five assessed EPCs. The qualification is at NVQ Level 3 (equivalent to an A level).
Location
Domestic Energy Assessor courses can be run at your own offices, subject to minimum numbers, or alternatively delegates can attend one of the regular events at Elmhurst’s training facility.
Course Fees
The cost of the training is currently £1600 excVAT. (A discount of £50 is available for those with some previous knowledge of the Elmhurst Streamline SAP system)
Following the Course:
Once qualified the final step for new entrants is to join Elmhurst’s DEA Accreditation Scheme to become licensed to produce EPCs. (For details on Accreditation please use the 'Stage 3 - Accreditation' button located at the bottom of this page)
APEL Route for Experienced Practitioners
APEL DEA Training and Accreditation Application form
Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) is available to experienced persons to demonstrate they have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to produce EPCs and leads directly to Accreditation as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA). Candidates may be existing authorised energy rating assessors (e.g. Streamline SAP or equivalent) or may belong to a related professional body e.g. RICS, CIAT, CIBSE and CIOB.
Requirements: Candidates must be able to demonstrate two years of relevant experience in the survey, construction or energy assessment of dwellings, obtained within the last five years of practise. In addition they will need to undertake Elmhurst’s RdSAP Distance Learning package and undergo an assessment of EPCs to ascertain that they are operating at the required level. Some additional training may be necessary for those whose skill set does not map fully to the non-technical aspects of the National Occupational Standards.
APEL Fees
The cost of DEA APEL Accreditation varies from £99.00 to £599.00 exc VAT depending on each candidates previous experience of Elmhurst’s Software.
