Overview
Elmhurst Energy Systems are an 'Approved Organisation'and have signed a protocol with the Scottish Government which allows members of its scheme to issue Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for existing non domestic buildings that satisfy the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings (Scotland) Regulations.There is no requirement for accreditation for the production of EPCs for new build domestic properties in Scotland. Energy Performance certificates provide information on the efficiency of the building in terms of CO2 emmisions.
What are the requirements? 
All non domestic buildings require EPCs to be produced when they are constructed, sold or rented.The calculations must be carried out using an approved software methodology.
When a new building is completed the EPC is submitted to the Building Standards verifier along with the Completion Certificate submission.
In the case of an existing building a legally valid EPC can only be produced by a member of an 'Approved Organisation ', such as Elmhurst and must be completed using an approved software methodology.

Elmhurst Software, Training and Accreditation options
In order to produce the appropriate reports an approved software methodology must be used. For EPCs on non dwellings, the methodology adopted is Simplified Building Energy Method (SBEM)
There are two principal routes to Non Domestic Accreditation.
- Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
- New Entrant Qualification
Elmhurst also operates a Scheme which enables Non Domestic EPCs to be produced by appropriately qualified, insured energy assessors that are subject to strict independent quality standards.
