Existing Dwellings - Accreditation

Elmhurst Energy Systems provide appropriate Accreditation for individuals looking to practise as Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) for existing dwellings directly under the Elmhurst Protocol and software for other approved organisations.

Please note: In order to produce EPCs in Scotland, an individual must complete the most appropriate DEA Training and then complete the Elmhurst 'Scotland Supplement' application form. Individuals must also undetake additional distance leaning and be registered to produce EPCs in Scotland. For 'Scottish Supplement' application form please click here

The cost of Accreditation has two elements. An Annual Membership fee and a separate fee per Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) issued. These fees are the same as the Elmhurst DEA accreditation scheme but please note that the central Government lodgement fees do not currently apply in Scotland

Membership Fees

  • Membership/Application Fee: FREE
  • Subsequent Annual Membership Renewal is free of charge if you have produced 25 EPCs in the previous accreditation year
  • If you have produced less than 25 EPCs in the previous Accreditation year then the renewal fee is - £50.00 exc VAT.

Energy Performance Certificate costs

A charge is made for each EPC produced which includes the cost of using the Elmhurst Energy Systems, Energy Rating software, monitoring and Professional Indemnity (Public Liability) Insurance. The cost per EPC reduces with increased volume (volume count applies to the number of EPCs produced in any one year of Accreditation by an individual).

RdSAP Software usage for members of other approved organisations (Protocol) in Scotland

Producing live EPCs/Energy Reports

Following training, if you are a member of another scheme, and you want to be able to use the online RdSAP software to produce the EPC/Energy Report, the simple way for this to work is to be invoiced on a ‘per report' basis and it will cost £2.50 plus VAT per EPC/Energy Reports produced.

This cost includes:
  • Online RdSAP software
  • All future updates
  • Free software for handheld PDAs (if required)
  • Access to Elmhurst technical support for all software and surveying queries

In our experience, technical surveying support is vital to surveyors using RdSAP for energy assessments. As you may recall if you have previously used our Streamline system, similar support has always been essential due to the myriad combinations of heating/hot water systems and constructional issues found in domestic properties and remains at the heart of the Elmhurst service.

Finally by agreeing to use our RdSAP software for Live EPCs/energy reports the surveyor agrees to the terms and conditions associated with its use. These are noted on the Application Form.

Please Note.

  • It is assumed that only Chartered Surveyors in Scotland will complete Home Reports.
  • Members of other approved organisations (Protocol) using the Elmhurst RdSAP software should be aware that it is the responsibility of their approved organisation to conduct any monitoring, PI checks and other formalities in line with their Protocol.
  • The Elmhurst unit price per EPC/Energy Report therefore does not include an allowance for monitoring of such matters by Elmhurst.
