Existing Dwellings - Training
Elmhurst Energy Systems provide appropriate training for individuals looking to practise as Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) for existing dwellings directly under the Elmhurst Protocol and of other approved organisations. Please see 'Elmhurst Protocol Application Process' details below to determine the most appropriate route based on your experience:
Elmhurst Protocol Application Process (Existing Domestic Properties)
To be a member of the Elmhurst Scotland Protocol scheme you must complete the following two stage application process:
Stage 1
For individuals looking to join the Elmhurst Domestic Energy Assessor accreditation scheme you must complete either a 'New Entrant Route' or an 'Existing Practitioner Route', details below:
New Entrant Route
An individual must apply for training in order to become a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor and apply to join the scheme once qualified.

Stage 2
After completing the appropriate DEA training course individuals must then complete a 'Scotland Supplement' application form. Individuals must also undetake additional distance leaning and be registered to produce EPCs in Scotland.

RdSAP training for members of other approved organisations (Protocol) in Scotland
Elmhurst provides a range of specially tailored software, training and support packages for members of other approved organisations (Protocols) in Scotland, including access to the Elmhurst approved Reduced Data SAP (RdSAP) software, our unrivalled technical support and training in the use of RdSAP.
Elmhurst's packages are also suitable for Chartered Surveyors who are members of the RICS Protocolproducing home energy reports and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) as part of the Home Report in Scotland.
There are currently two RdSAP options for training:
Training option One: RdSAP Distance Learning - £250 plus VAT per candidate
- Specialised RdSAP distance learning course comprising:
- Electronic access to RdSAP Manual and associated documents
- Online access to the Elmhurst RdSAP Software throughout your training period
- Access email and telephone technical helpdesk throughout your training
- Assessment of three EPCs (two test cases and own choice property)
- Issue of a software authorisation certificate on successful completion of assessment
Training option Two: RdSAP Classroom based 1 day training - £350 plus VAT per candidate
- A one day classroom based course, which will fully explain the EPC, Energy Report and RdSAP for use in Scotland.
- Electronic access to RdSAP Manual and associated documents
- Online access to the Elmhurst RdSAP Software throughout your training period
- Access email and telephone technical helpdesk throughout your training
- Assessment of three EPCs (two test cases and own choice property)
- Issue of a software authorisation certificate on successful completion of assessment

We can tailor a package to meet your individual group requirements for training, software and ongoing technical support as required. Packages can be set up on a number of different payment options, such as volume discounts and offsets against future EPC production.
