New Build Dwellings - Software
What is the Elmhurst Design Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) Software?
The Elmhurst Design SAP Software is Government approved to calculate the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) rating and Environmental Impact Rating (EIR) of a new build dwelling. The Design software also produces the Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) and Target Emission Rate (TER) thereby demonstrating compliance against building regulations/standards.
Design SAP is the most widely used and recognised SAP system within Building Control /Standards Bodies throughout the UK. Architects, Designers, Surveyors and House Builders are amongst the professionals that realise the benefit of using professional and Government approved systems when seeking Building Regulation compliance.
How easy is it to use the Elmhurst Design SAP Software?
The inputting of data into the software takes less than two minutes per survey and with 'what if' alterations taking seconds, It enables the user to test different scenarios quickly and easily. For new build dwellings Design SAP remains the most easily used SAP system available, from the comprehensive manual and survey form, through to our market leading technical support helpline.
Design SAP is suitable for the Building Regulations of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland with an automated compliance information report detailing regional requirements for compliance. The software is continually maintained through automatic downloads to incorporate the latest changes to the Building Regulations, the SAP methodology and product information.
The Design Software can also be used to produce the relevant elemental compliance information for Alterations, Extensions and Conversions of dwellings where the DER/TER is not used.
EPC Production
The Design SAP software also produces an EPC at design stage in Scotland which can be submitted to Building Standards with the Completion Certificate submission provided that the dwelling has been constructed in accordance with the approved plans. If there have been any changes during construction the SAP calculations will need to be revised and a new EPC will be produced.
The software also supports EPC production for buildings that have used the simplified methods for demonstraining compliance to the Scottish Building Standards.
The Elmhurst U-Value Calculator
The Design Software also includes the latest Elmhurst U-Value Calculator which is easy to use and features amongst other things a comprehensive manufacturers database of products and also a condensation/dew point analysis tool.
The calculator can be used as a stand alone application or operate within the Design SAP software. This allows the user to directly to obtain, U-Values for the property's, walls, roof or floors while entering the SAP calculation information. The advantage of this method is that the U-Value calculations are always stored within the SAP calculation so they can then be easily and quickly amended at any time to assess the impact of construction decisions on the U-Value, SAP calculation and Building Regulation compliance information.
How does the Elmhurst U-Value Calculator Work?
The Elmhurst U-Value calculator has been developed in accordance with the current British Standards. The U-Value calculator also comprises invaluable features including:
- Comprehensive manufactures database of products - making the process of building up constructions for calculations extremely easy with all the products in the manufacturer's database ready to be quickly inserted.
- Template Function - within the calculator there is at least one typical template for each of the standard construction techniques. This allows the user to easily amend templates to create their own exact constructions; user defined templates can then be saved into the database making jobs easier in the future. In the same way user defined materials can also be added to the comprehensive manufacturer's database.
- The software will calculate 'Condensation Risk Analysis' upon any construction entered - one click of a button and 'dew point' and 'vapour pressure' tables/graphs are presented, clearly indicating whether there is any theoretical chance of condensation forming in the calculated construction.
