Residential Social Landlords - Overview

Are you a Registered Social Landlord (RSL)? Now you can manage the energy efficiency of your housing stock and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) production online!   Elmhurst Energy is building on the long established Streamline system in the RSL sector. The new Elmhurst Streamline EPC System enables RSLs to manage the energy efficiency and EPC production of their housing stock in a convenient online format.

RSLs - what are the legal requirements?

The Government now require all Landlords to provide Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to prospective tenants of rented dwellings. The EPC can be reused for 10 years, unless the dwelling is altered or improved, at which point its EPC should be updated to reflect the changes.

Legally EPCs were required:

• England and Wales from the 1st of October 2008
• Northern Ireland from 30th of December 2008
• Scotland from 4th January 2009.

In order to provide EPCs, landlords currently have two options:

• Utilise existing Accredited Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) or alternatively,
• Train and Accredit in-house staff to the DEA diploma level.

The Government has also produced a national calculation methodology called Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP), this is the prescribed methodology which all DEAs must use to produce valid EPCs. At Elmhurst we have developed our own Government approved RdSAP online software tool which is part of the Streamline EPC system.....

Elmhurst Energy Software, Training and Accreditation Information

As well as having access to the correct Government approved software, an individual looking to produce an EPC must also be a registered member of a Government approved Accreditation scheme.  Elmhurst Energy Systems is a Government approved Accreditation body and offer the training and Accreditation licence to practice as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) allowing the individual to produce EPCs for all existing dwellings. Our Accreditation scheme ensures that all EPCs are produced by persons who are appropriately qualified, insured and subject to strict independent quality standards.
